Figure Eight, 1952, Franz Kline, via Tess at Magpie Tales
Laying entwined side by side
in lightning light through north glass
spattered sheeting rasping their backs
she laughed, hiccuped into his mouth
wine-warm breath and obsidian eyes
glancing to the wet canvas, You like it?
the question hung before his fogged brain
squinting while besotted memories
bubble up from the black lake
inside, he grips her hip, turning her sideways
to smile only with his lips It's fine, love,
but we were supposed to be infinity,
and all I see is a figure eight
Cleverrrrr...
ReplyDeletenice...love the intimacy in this man....the hiccup in the mouth was a little weird but also intimate and playful....love is a cool thing....
ReplyDeleteGood one...
ReplyDeleteMethinks you captured an artist's point of view. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the earthiness of the hiccup in the mouth...and the sideways view...
ReplyDeleteWonderful transformation of the eight into a spoon, i have never believed the tale that spoons could be bent until just now, thank you
ReplyDeleteAn entertaining interpretation of the prompt, IG. Thanks.
ReplyDelete.. 'you like it?' I love it!
