Magpie Tales 140: He Favors Our Undertakings (Wrong New Order)

Image via Tess at Magpie Tales

His laugh rings clear
as cold cash hits the till
hot bullets hit their targets
while our heads find the sand

Thirteen arrows drawn
Thirteen stars gone nova
Thirteen stripes flay our backs
Thirteen levels we climb

Black sun throne high in thin air
we groan and gasp, finding him:
Hollow motto, bitter tears, to know
Satan approves of our undertakings

    1. Make sure you know who's waiting for you there first.

  2. Doesn't it feel like the powers that be and we as well are totally supporting the wrong initiatives? I argued the same premise. How did that 60's song go....... "when will they ever learn, oh, when will they ever learn" ? Oh yeah, "Where Have all the Flowers Gone?" Thank you for sharing this, Irish Gumbo.

  3. @Rene: Run far, run fast...

@Linda: It does. I'm not a pious man, but it occurs to me that the path doesn't always lead where we think it leads.

  8. Oooft. That one packs a punch. I like the heads in the sand observation, and the closing is outstanding.

  9. I've always been suspicious of the "vagueness" of certain symbols. It is so easy to see terrible things, and in this world, so many people lean towards easy. I wonder about what they see, and then I stop because I terrify myself.

I love the power of these words.
