Damaged Cortexes

If music is the food of love,
what is the drink of hate?
Is it the absence of understanding
or dearth of empathy?
Questions occur as the ticker
scrawls slowly across the screen
on a backdrop of talking heads
looking vexed as the explosions,
the blood stains their complexions
All the while tut-tutting and offering
little in the way of solution
Replacing it instead with reasons
why the audience can shake their heads
and believe that They are not like Them
while the money rolls in on a tide
of munitions and exported force
Insulating the body politic with the
blubber of self-delusion

  3. my oh my. you such such large stories with so few words. I love your tags for each post - helping us read even further between the lines.

You've painted such a precise picture of this muck we're all in. Knowing more, but not doing more. Parents watching a fight break out on the playground. Refusing to break it up so they can learn thier own lesson. Cept when little Mikey's leg is broken and Tommy can't see out of his left eye... we've got to take charge again.

  4. don't we all just think "We're" not like "Them"... I ruminate on this subject frequently, but struggle to find words to explain how I feel about it. I think you did quite a nice job for me here. :)
