Peachy Redemption

Standing in the dim coolness of my kitchen this morning, I ate a ripe peach at the counter. I did not bother to sit down, it was too good. I chewed quietly, juice trickling over my fingertips. In a sweet burst of concentrated summer, it occurred to me that sometimes the blind indifference of the Universe is swept away by a glimpse of the Divine.

It was an excellent peach.

  4. "Eat a peach".... isn't that an Allman Brothers album? Not sure if they meant the same thing, though.

  13. God's way of comfort, should you choose to listen. Even if your heart aches, there are still some things to bring you joy.
I think of you often, and send you good thoughts.

  14. I remember peaches like this, from the Okanagan in B.C. The ones that arrive here in Scotland are just flavourless compared to those dreamy fruits bought by the bag from road-side stands. Sigh. Peaches are good.

  21. Yeah, a really good peach does that to me, too. And standing up to eat it is a REQUIREMENT!
