Lament of the Silverback

On a quiet Saturday night
the primate stares into the mirror
seeing pewter amongst the chestnut

it wonders then, if its lineage is true
does that make it king of the forest?
Or a silverback beset by the young?

  1. Uh oh...will this become your winter of discontent? One needs the silver, to truly appreciate the chestnut, and the silverbacks to appreciate their youth. It's all relative.

  2. My own mirror tells me I'm a besotten crymate more than a primate, pewter nonwithstanding.

  4. I definitely am not a chest beater. I am just an aging Neanderthal.
