Beer Poll! Winners! and a Little Housekeeping

Well, well, WELL!
Gimme a little time to think,
While you fix me another muthaf**kin' drink!

-"2 Brothers" intro by R.L. Burnside, "A Ass Pocket of Whiskey"

Whoo, well its time to reel in some outstanding items here on the GumboNet. You may have noticed the Beer Poll widget I have up. To those who participated, thank you very much! Let's parse the results, shall we?

Of nine total votes cast, 5 went to tasty Guinness Stout. Big round of applause for lovers (or just likers) of one of Ireland's multitude of gifts to modern civilization!

Full disclosure: Guinness is probably my favorite all-time malted beverage; scout's honor that I only cast one vote for it! Anchor Steam is one of my favorite all-American beers by far, and I accidently hit the button for it while scrolling over it. As to the "Beer tastes like ass", alright, I'll go with it, but seriously? how do you know? (I'm teasing, settle down!)

The Sunday Contest: WE HAVE A WIENER!

The entry that made me laugh the most, because it was non-sensical and logical at the same time, and I read it when I was really tired, from the lovely Charmaine, I give you this:

"Do they take (me) for an idiot? he pondered. I know we're near a lake and all but you can't submerge New York City."

(Applause, applause)

Please drop by Charmaine's blog and leave her a message of congratulations. Plus, she has some funny stories...

Also, let's give a shout out to the other fine folks who put some eyeballs on the page:

Miz Blo - Video! Audio! Lizards!
Captain Dumbass at Us and Them - no finer combo of Star Wars wisdom and grilled cheese men.
Ryan at Pacing The Panic Room - Amazing photos. I'm jealous.
Mama Dawg at Two Dogs Running - You will laugh. Plus she says "patootie"!

Drop them all a line and say hi!

To all: Today was my last official day at work after the Lay Off (and no, I don't mean the soccer move) and I am bit worn out. For all of you who tuned in, thank you for the good vibes. I am grateful. I have some thoughts on this, and tomorrow when I am not so tired, I'll share them. Good night!

  2. Dude, sorry I missed the beer poll. And the Sunday contest. I feel like I've been kicked in the head, lately, heh.

Congrats to Charmaine! I'm going over to visit her site now. Also congrats to Guinness. Back in my beer-drinking days, it was my fave too.

  4. Yay! My third link for the day! You rock.

And FYI, I'm one of the ones that voted for the Irish! I LOVE me some Irish.

Beer that is. Plus the men, I guess, for their accent.

And their music, and their culture.

    Hell, I'm an Irishphile.

Anndi: That's the best pick-up line I have heard in years!

Please may I have the secret?

  6. Did I say that?

I mean it sounds like me and all, but usually I swear.

Have I mentioned that I'm Irish?

I use profanity to discern if there are other Irish people in the room. If so, they flock to me. If not, someones older and very BIG older bother generally ushers me out.
